Ok, so I was sent a link to this video...and I must say that he does a decent job disproving part of my "You just can't do this with vanes" video. He does hit the target with fairly good accuracy, so he did disprove my 'damaged vane' theory...he did not disprove my ability to replace the damaged FOBs though. I particularly like the video @ minute 2:25 lol. Just to be a good sport and let him know that I appreciate the constructive criticism, I posted a comment about his video. Although he did a good job, I will still be stickin with my FOBs.
Enjoy

First of all, nice video....BUT here is where i stand...
A FOB is only 1/2" Deep so between all 3 vanes you have a total of 1 1/2" of Surface area. On a 2" Blazer you have a total of 6" Surface area. On a 4" Vane you have a total of 12" Surface area.
Anyway you cut it FOBS fly straighter and faster then anything out there with less surface area on them. I don't know about you but if i was shooting on a windy day i wouldnt want my arrows dancing around the woods like a witch on her broom stick. I like nice strait lines.
Vanes may fly ok while missing part of one or 1-2 vanes missing BUT i bet a million dollars if i destroy a FOB I can pull one out of my bag, put it on AND be shooting before you start crying because you have no more arrows left.
Oh by the way sir, where to you come up with a 17" Kill Zone on a deer, i wonder if i shoot one in their Hoof, Will it drop right there..

I do appreciate his efforts but he ended up sounding very ignorant about FOBs and arrow flight.....He likes his arrows really light and fast? So they can get there fast and bounce off I guess.......I think MetalMan summed it up very well....and for the gentleman in the video....the "Useless little plastic wing around the vanes" is where the lift comes from...... Again...I am sticking with FOBs All Day Long! I don't think he proved a thing. Just my 2c

17", well maybe, just depends on how you look at it. a 4.125" x 4.125" square is 17 inches a 12" x 12" square piece of tile is 144 inches
